The National Conference of Secular Institutes was founded in 1960 as a support network for tertiary secular institutes in the United Kingdom. The committee is composed of one member institute and meets triannually, organising an annual conference
for its members. The NCSI is affiliated to the Conférence Mondiale des Instituts Seculiers (CMIS) which represents all Secular Institutes throughout the world. A member of the NCSI attends the Congress of the World Conference of Secular Institutes
which takes place every four years and it is also represented on the National Board of Catholic Women which is a consultative body to the Bishops' Conference of England and Wales.
