About this series

Lisbon College Additional Manuscripts is an artificially created series comprising individual manuscripts and collections too small or ephemeral to be included in the Lisbon College Administration (LC/A) or Lisbon College Papers (LC/P) series.

Contents

The collection is wide-ranging in subject matter and includes: papers on the administration and history of Lisbon College; legal and finanical papers; printed pamphlets on political and spiritual matters; and manuscripts of historical and literary interest. The collection also includes a series of letters describing an illicit courtship between a seminary student at Lisbon college and and a German lady.

Accession details

Lisbon College closed in 1973 and this collection, along with the rest of the Lisbon Archive and Library, was transferred to Ushaw College by Mgr James Sullivan in the following year.

Conditions of access

Open for consultation.

Copyright and copying

Permission to make any published use of material from the collection must be sought in advance from the Lisbonian Society and, where appropriate, from the copyright owner. The Library will assist where possible with identifying copyright owners, but responsibility for ensuring copyright clearance rests with the user of the material

Arrangement

There is no specific system of arrangement. New additions to the collection will be added at the end of the catalogue.
