Contents

The Old Miscellany collection comprises disparate material covering a wide range of topics, including: the financial transactions of sixteenth century Spanish notables; research into Catholic history and notable Catholics such as John Larkin and Francis Thompson; letters and papers on Ushaw history, notably the early years of the St Cuthbert's Society, the design of the Ushaw medal, and other Pugin architectural initiatives; teaching at Lisbon College; and the Allotment Defence Association. The papers also include a letter from King Charles I to the earl of Glamorgan securing the services of the Roman Catholics of Ireland to fight on his side during the English Civil War.
